Kristin Toner

Ballet Master & Assistant Artistic Director, Coordinator of Student Services (Levels 6-8 & PLP)

A native of Indiana, Kristin Young Toner returned to Indianapolis as a founding company member of Indianapolis Ballet in August 2017. Toner is a true hometown talent for Indianapolis Ballet, as she as a student in the first graduating class of Indianapolis School of Ballet. Prior to her training at ISB, Toner received her foundational ballet training with the Academy of Ballet Internationale from Irina Kolpakova and Vladilen Semenov. Post-ISB graduation, she performed several principal roles while she received her BFA from the University of Oklahoma under the leadership of Mary Margaret Holt.

Following her collegiate experience, Toner was offered a guest artist role with Tulsa Ballet performing in Twyla Tharp’s Push Comes to Shove before accepting a position with Nashville Ballet. Her repertory experience with Nashville Ballet included company roles in Cinderella, Nashville’s Nutcracker, Billy the Kid, The Sleeping Beauty, Carmina Burana, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan, Dracula, and Balanchine’s Serenade, as well as contemporary works by Gina Patterson and Christopher Stuart.

Her roles with Indianapolis Ballet includedL Tatiana in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the title roles in The Firebird and Carmen, Dew Drop Fairy, Snow Queen, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, numerous principal and soloist roles in Balanchine’s Serenade, Rubies, The Four Temperaments, Raymonda Variations, Allegro Brillante, and Who Cares? as well as other works by Mariel Greenlee, Victoria Lyras, Paul Vitali, and Roberta Wong.

Toner began choreographing on the Indianapolis Ballet in 2019 with her debut of A New Normal. We have also seen her choreography on the IB company in Scherzo Passionato and Veiled Visions.
