Open Division

Adult/Open Division

For those who love to dance but wish to undertake a less intensive schedule

Classes for adults and teens, ages 13 and up

The Adult/Open Dance Program, for ages 13 and above, offers classes for beginners, former dancers wanting to return to their passion, and those looking to use dance to stay fit. Technical work is presented in a sequential, graded format to meet the needs of students who seek quality training, enrichment and physical fitness. In the Open Program, the number of classes may be less, but the quality of training is not diminished.

IMPORTANT: New Guidelines for Summer 2020

We are excited to welcome our open division students back to the studio this summer! As we move into our summer classes, we would like to provide you with some information regarding new guidelines we have put into place. The ISB team has spoken in depth about the best practices to ensure the health and safety of all students, parents, faculty, and staff while still providing a challenging and enjoyable experience for all students. Because of current concerns, please note that these guidelines will be strictly enforced and are non-negotiable. We ask that you read through these (and discuss with your child if they are under the age of 18) so that everyone comes to the ISB studios knowing what to expect.

  • As of July 9th, in accordance with the Marion County Public Health Department’s mandate,  the wearing of face masks is required in all areas of ISB.
  • All open division students will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to participate in the open division program. This form must be completed before you can participate in class. (Click here for form.) You may complete this and email it to Rachel Dees at, fax to #317-955-7526, or mail a copy to our studio. If you are unable to complete this and return it as stated above, please notify the receptionist upon entering that you need to complete a form. Thank you for your cooperation in this.
  • Please plan on arriving at the studio building no earlier than one half hour before the start of class, as class times are now staggered to help with the flow of students entering and exiting the studios.
  • If you are dropping a student off, upon arrival at the studio building, please bring your student to the front entry door. They will enter the reception area on their own.
  • To avoid any congregating in the dressing rooms, all students must arrive already dressed for class with their hair in place. The bathrooms across from the studio are available if it is necessary to change in the building. Cover-ups can be removed and placed in a dance bag, which will go with each student directly into the studio, not the dressing room.
  • In the studio, students will be required to maintain at least a 6-foot distance apart, both at the barre and in the center. Students must also be aware of keeping distance from their fellow dancers along the side of the studio in preparation for any center exercises requiring small groups to travel either from the back of the studio to the front, or from one corner to the other.
  • The front of the studio will be marked off as a “safe zone” from which the teacher will conduct the class. This is an area where the teacher will remain, and the students will avoid.
  • Students should bring their own water bottles, preferably with a straw to make drinking under a mask easier.
  • While hand sanitizer will be available at the studios, each student is advised to bring a small supply of their own.

Thank you for your understanding in adhering to the above guidelines, and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
