Born and raised in Indiana, Abigail Marten started her dance training at the age of four at a small studio in Franklin, Indiana. She began studying at the Indianapolis School of Ballet in 2009 under the direction of Victoria Lyras, as well as Roberta Wong, Michelle Merrell, Karen Scalzitti-Kennedy, Paul Vitali, Judith Peters, and Emily Nord Womersley. She has attended summer intensive programs with Indianapolis School of Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Boston Ballet.
Graduating from ISB in 2018, Abigail was selected into the Professional Level Program, training alongside the IB professional dancers for the first two seasons, and cast in many of the company productions. Several of her favorite ballets she has performed in are Who Cares?, Raymonda Variations, The Four Temperaments, Serenade, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker.
Abigail is also a trained vocalist who enjoys singing in her free time. She is very grateful to have sung at the Indianapolis Ballet Gala for the past two years, and appreciates the opportunities to grow her talent outside of ballet with IB.
In 2018 she graduated from Whiteland Community High School with an Academic Honors Diploma.
Abigail is so excited to start her first season with IB as an apprentice!
