After serving as a Residency Guest Artist during Indianapolis Ballet’s 2018 debut season, Khris Santos joined as a full company member for its first full season across 2018-19. Following performances in IB’s productions of Raymonda Act III and The Firebird during its historic debut residency, Khris performed the role of Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and as a featured dancer in the premiere of Éclat! in May 2018. Santos also served as a guest performer in the Indianapolis School of Ballet’s production of Coppélia in May 2017.
Santos joined Indianapolis Ballet after five seasons with Cincinnati Ballet, where he began as a member of its Second Company in 2013 before being promoted to Apprentice (’14-’15) and the Corps de Ballet (’15-’16). In July 2015, he participated in an international ballet competition held in Beijing, China, with other top dancers from around the world.
A native of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, Santos began dancing at age 11. He trained at the Puerto Rican National Ballet School with Julián E. Blanco, Ballets De San Juan School and San Francisco Ballet School. Santos’s favorite ballet is Swan Lake, and if he could dance in any ballet, he would choose The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by the famed William Forsythe. Santos’s favorite personal dancing memory is Melancholic from George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments.
