Coleen Szulc received her early dance training with Lori Koller in her hometown of Flemington, New Jersey, studying ballet primarily as well as jazz and tap. After graduating high school a year early, she moved to Philadelphia to continue her training at The Rock School for Dance Education under Bo and Stefanie Spassoff, Mariaelena Ruiz, Servy Gallardo, and Natalya Zieger. Coleen then moved on to train at Princeton Ballet School/American Repertory Ballet, where she performed with the company in The Nutcracker under Graham Lustig. She also spent multiple summers on scholarship with Orlando Ballet.

Coleen graduated Cum Laude from Butler University with a BA in Dance Pedagogy and high honors in the dance department in May of 2013. While at Butler, she performed corps, soloist, and principal roles including Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Peasant Pas de Dix in Giselle, and Dawn and Prayer in Coppélia. She studied under Marek Cholewa, Derek Reid, Tong Wang, Cynthia Pratt, Susan McGuire, Michael Johnson, Stephan Laurent, and Michelle Jarvis. She completed her senior practicum with Laura Byram and Roberta Wong. Coleen also had the opportunity to train and perform abroad in Poland and Russia with Butler Ballet. She joined the faculty at ISB in 2013 after discovering her passion for teaching while at Butler.
