INDIANAPOLIS, April 18, 2016- Indianapolis Ballet Inc., home of the Indianapolis School of Ballet (ISB) is excited to host their summer intensive program from June 20- July 23, 2016. This five-week program is taught by ISB’s Artistic staff, along with three guest teachers. ISB held auditions throughout the Midwest through January and February, allowing dancers from different locations to attend.

 

The summer intensive program is catered for the serious-minded dancer. The five week Intensive provide classes in Technique, Pointe, Variations, Adagio, Modern, Ballroom, Jazz, Pilates, and Weight Training for Men. There will also be lectures on various topics that pertain to dancers and their lifestyles including nutrition, foot care, and college and career preparedness.

 

The roster of guest teachers this summer include Paul Boos and Paul Vitali. Paul Boos is a former dancer with the New York City Ballet and current Balanchine repetiteur who has staged ballets all over the world. Paul Vitali is a former dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet and a principal dancer at Feld Ballet/NY and has been a guest dancer in many ISB productions including the part of Herr Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker and Dr. Coppélius in Coppélia.

 

Many of the dancers attending the Summer Intensive are ISB students along with a number of dancers from out of state including Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan, and Florida. Housing for students from out of town is located at the IUPUI campus nearby.

 

A free community performance at the Artsgarden, located at Circle Centre Mall, is scheduled on July 22 at 4:30p.m. This performance will feature the skills and original choreography the students will have mastered over the course of the five weeks.
