22 Aug 2017 Nutcracker Auditions Set for Sunday, Aug. 27
Dancers Ages Nine and Up Invited to Participate in Auditions in Advance of ISB’s 11th Annual Production of the Holiday Season Tradition
INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, August 22, 2017) – The Indianapolis School of Ballet (ISB) will conduct open auditions for its annual production of The Nutcracker this Sunday, August 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at ISB’s downtown Indianapolis studios, located at 502 N. Capitol Avenue, Suite B.
Sunday’s auditions are open to dancers ages nine and up. Rehearsals for the holiday season tradition will be held on Saturdays beginning September 16. Production week will run from December 18-23, including evening rehearsals on Dec. 18 & 19 and five performances between Dec. 20-23. Featured dancers and soloists may have additional weekday rehearsals.
Interested dancers must turn the age listed below by September 30. Audition schedule is as follows:
- 12:00-1:00 p.m. – Warm-up classes (ages 13 and up, ISB Level 6 and up)
- 1:15-2:00 p.m. – Ages 16 and up for ladies on pointe
- 2:15-2:45 p.m. – Ages 13-15 for ladies on pointe
- 3:00-3:45 p.m. – Ages 11-12
- 4:00-5:00 p.m. – Ages 9-10
This year’s performances will mark the 11th annual production of The Nutcracker for Indianapolis School of Ballet, which this year will also include support from members of the new Indianapolis Ballet professional company. The Nutcracker will return to The Murat Theatre at Old National Centre for a second consecutive year and again feature live musical accompaniment.
