Indianapolis School of Ballet is extending the deadline of Summer Intensive video auditions to Friday, May 31, 2024.

Intensive Schedule

Choose the training that best fits your summer schedule by selecting one of the program options below.

Division I, II, and III:

Both two-week and four-week intensive options available.

Two-week program options:

  • June 17 - 29, 2024

  • July 1 - 13, 2024

Four-week program: June 17 - July 13, 2024

The Indianapolis School of Ballet’s Summer Intensive program aims to further dancers’ training and improve essential skills required to advance to their desired level of excellence. Students have the opportunity to work with other talented dancers selected from auditions under the guidance of ISB’s Artistic Staff and other esteemed guest instructors and choreographers.

Weekly Schedule for All Divisions:

Monday-Friday: 9:30am - 4:30pm

Saturday (mandatory for all divisions): 10:00am - 1:00pm

Division placement for the 2024 Summer Intensive will be determined on the first day of class, not in the acceptance letter.

Video Audition, Admission & Registration

Admission to the Summer Intensive is by audition only. Students must be 10 years of age by June 1, 2024.

Recorded auditions are accepted with a $30 fee and must be submitted by April 20, 2024 May 31, 2024 (audition candidates will be considered subject to level availability). Click here to download the video audition form.

An audition fee of $30 is due at the time of the audition by cash or check or during pre-registration through Studio Director.

Please bring TWO photos – a headshot (may be a school photo) and full-length dance photo in first arabesque. Ladies must bring pointe shoes.

Curriculum

The Indianapolis School of Ballet’s Summer Intensive curriculum provides exceptional instruction for the serious-minded ballet student to reach their desired level of achievement. Our four-week intensive program includes classes in ballet technique, pointe, variations, adagio/partnering, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, Pilates, and more. All students will participate in weekly lectures on nutrition, physical therapy, foot care, and resume/CV building.

Tuition & Scholarships

$500 deposit due March 31, 2024

Tuition for non-ISB students:

  • 4 weeks: $2,550

  • 2 weeks: $1,300

Tuition for current ISB students:

  • 4 weeks: $2,300

  • 2 weeks: $1,200

A limited number of scholarships will be awarded, available for those who can show financial need, have a dedicated work ethic, and letter of reference. You must email to request an application 2 weeks before your audition date.

Activities

ISB provides dancers with enriching experiences within and outside of the studios throughout the duration of the four weeks of classes. Conveniently located downtown, the ISB studios provide access to the city’s best cultural attractions, shopping, scenic bike and walking trails, museums, parks, and art galleries – many within walking distance of the studio and housing accommodations.

Students enjoy an atmosphere that fosters long-lasting friendships with people from across the nation. Pre-approved activities give students the opportunity to see great performances, and take trips to museums, historic landmarks, sporting events, concerts, and the zoo. All outings are chaperoned by ISB staff.

Audition FAQs

Where and when are in-person auditions held?

  • Audition registration will begin 30-60 minutes prior to audition, check your local schedule below.

  • All dancers should arrive in time for registration and to warm up. Auditions are punctual.

 

What age group do I audition with if my birthday is before or during the ISB Summer Intensive?

  • Audition with your current age level. Students must be 10 years of age by June 1, 2024 to attend the intensive.

Do you accept video auditions?

  • Yes. You may submit a video by our April 20, 2024 deadline, with a $30 fee.

What is the audition dress code?

  • Ladies: Leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers, pointe shoes. Hair pulled neatly back in a high ballet bun.

  • Gentlemen: White t-shirt, tights, and ballet shoes.

When do we find out if we are accepted?

  • Within 3 weeks of the audition date. Notes are not included as part of the audition process.

When do we find out the placement level?

  • You will be informed of your placement level in your acceptance letter.

Are there scholarships available?

  • There are limited scholarships available for those who can show financial need, have a dedicated work ethic, and letter of reference.
