Camilo Santiesteban Lachataignerais, originally from Holguín, Cuba, began his ballet training at the age of 10 at the Vocational School of Art in his native province. There he studied ballet for 5 years. In 2015 he studied at the upper secondary level in Camagüey for 3 years and joined the Camagüey Ballet in 2018, under the direction of Regina Balaguer. There, Camilo danced in many ballets, the most outstanding was Don Quixote, interpreting the role of Camacho and the Black Swan Pas de Deux. Camilo also danced in many contemporary and neoclassical works.

In October of 2022, Camilo entered the National Ballet of Cuba under the artistic leadership of Viengsay Valdés, In this company, he performed several classics, such as Coppélia and roles of Bullfighters and Majos in Don Quixote.  He also participated in the 27th Havana Festival that takes place every two years in the capital where he danced Giselle, specifically the Friend’s of Giselle in Act I, as well as 2 Muchachos by Uwe Sholz and Roser Muñoz, Mozart’s Requiem by Ben Stevenson, and Symphony for 9 Men by James Kelly.

Camilo is excited to keep dancing with the Indianapolis Ballet for the 2024/25 season.
