INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Ballet and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra are excited to announce a long-awaited collaboration of Romeo and Juliet, May 3-4, 2024, at Clowes Memorial Hall.

ISO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly leads the orchestra in this celebrated production by renowned choreographer Septime Webre. The original production debuted in 1994 with IB’s Founding Artistic Director, Victoria Lyras, as one of the original Juliets. Since then, the production has evolved and traveled to leading ballet companies worldwide, including The Washington Ballet and Hong Kong Ballet. Indianapolis Ballet will present Webre’s Romeo and Juliet on its 30th anniversary.

“With every ballet we add to our repertoire, we are bringing awareness to Indianapolis Ballet. The fact that Septime Webre is on another continent brings even broader recognition to the company that we are performing the work of a nationally renowned choreographer and director,” says Lyras. “The excitement I have right now is the same as what I felt performing the ballet in 1994. I can still feel the music rushing through my veins.”

Indianapolis Ballet and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra last collaborated in 2018. Clowes Memorial Hall joins the artistic collaboration to create an unforgettable experience.

Indianapolis Ballet Executive Director Don Steffy says, “This project unites two of the city’s professional performing arts organizations and its premier performing arts venue to present a spectacular production unlike any produced locally in over a decade. This unique collaboration will provide diverse new audiences with an accessible and uplifting experience that creates new pathways for engagement and appreciation of the performing arts in Indianapolis.”

“The ISO is thrilled to collaborate with the Indianapolis Ballet and Clowes Memorial Hall on this project that offers our community new ways to connect with the artistic excellence that is the hallmark of both the ISO and the Indianapolis Ballet,” said James M. Johnson, CEO, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets for Romeo and Juliet go on sale Monday, August 7, 2023, and start at just $19. For more information, visit indyballet.org.
