Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Lucy Merz trained at The Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, before joining the Ballet West Academy Professional Training Division in Salt Lake City, UT. In 2019, she joined the Pacific Northwest Ballet as a scholarship student in their Professional Division. She has attended summer courses with Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and The School of American Ballet.

Lucy’s favorite ballets to have performed include Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie, Concerto Barocco, The Nutcracker and Walspurgis Nacht as well as Viva Vivaldi by Gerald Arpino. After graduating from the Professional Division at PNB, Lucy was thrilled to be offered a position as an apprentice with the Indianapolis Ballet for the 2021-2022 season, and looks forward to her second year as a company artist.
